In 1937, ten women, families of the firemen, met and formed an Auxiliary to the Westmere Fire Department. They participated in activities: bingo, bake sales, clam chowder sales and square dances as well as parades. Today, more than 68 years later, the Auxiliary remains active with 40 members. The Auxiliary remains “on call” and willing to assist the Fire Department at all times. We have taken coffee, water, donuts, soda or sandwiches to fires, floods, searches and other emergencies.

In addition to assisting the firefighters, we do a wide variety of community and social activities. The activities include: Election Day Bake Sale, Parades, Pancake Breakfasts, Community Goodwill Projects, Family Holiday Get-Togethers, catering of various parties to raise funds and yearly trips. We welcome new members to our organization. You will find our Auxiliary to be a very worthwhile experience. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
